Today, we have a guest! It has been almost two years since I met him. I enjoy reading his messages which sends me on WhatsApp. His name, Samuel Bubune.
After reading this particular message (Well, along with four other ones), I very much encouraged and intrigued.
“Madam Louisa penned these words in tragedy! Wow! She knew her God!”
I know you will be eencourage and ministered to as you read…
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.”
(Romans 8: 28, KJV)
‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at his word,
Just to rest upon His promise
Just to know, “Thus says the Lord”
The writer of this hymn, Louisa M.R Stead was born in England. She felt the call of God upon her life for missionary service. She arrived in America in 1871 and in 1875, she married a Mr. Stead and this union was blessed with a daughter.
When the child was four years of age, the family decided one day to enjoy the sunny beach at Long Island sound.
While eating their picnic lunch, they suddenly heard cries of help and spotted a drowning boy in the sea. Mr. Stead charged into the water to save the boy but unfortunately, drowned in his attempt, along with the boy before the terrified eyes of wife and daughter.
And out of her struggle with God during the ensuing days, flowed these meaningful words:
“tis so sweet to trust in Jesus”
This hymn was penned out of one of life’s darkest moments yet the writer in all this still trusted in Jesus. She still believed even then that all things work together for the good of them that love God.
When we go through dark moments in life, we ought not to give up; this is the true test of our faith in God. It is during these moments that our faith should be stronger in God. It is at these moments that we have to trust God.
Trust God and his plans for your life when it seems most difficult.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him,
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more
The true test of our faith comes during our darkest moments…
God bless you!!!!!
